From February 7th to 14th, 2025, Spread Truth Africa hosted its annual February Mission Week, an eight-day initiative dedicated to evangelism and community outreach. As it is our yearly tradition, we were blessed to have our team from the USA (Spread Truth) join us in reaching thousands of lives through various programs. The mission was centered on spreading the Gospel and demonstrating the love of Christ through acts of service through a Basketball Tournament and Referees Clinic, prison outreach, School Visits, Nutritional Support, an anti-FGM initiative, and a Free Medical Camp.
“It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”
To make this successful, we partnered with Hope Citadel Foundation, the National Youth Council, the County Government of Kajiado, Midwest Food Bank, Midwest KAPU Africa, Illaramatak Community Concerns, Kahawa Sukari Baptist Church, Far East Basketball Association (FEBA), and Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
As we reminisce, our hearts are filled with joy and we thank God for every life we impacted. Through the initiatives, we reached 10,669 people, distributed 25 tons of food serving 202,222 meals, reached 4 counties (Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos and Kajiado) and recorded 235 salvations!
Basketball Tournament and Referees Clinic.
We organized a basketball tournament across three courts in Nairobi’s informal settlements—Umoja, Buruburu, and Komarock—as part of our youth engagement strategy. The event provided an inclusive platform for both young men and women, promoting gender equality while fostering leadership, talent development, and economic empowerment through sports.
A total of 36 teams participated, reaching over 1,500 youth. Beyond competition, the tournament served as a mentorship avenue, steering youth away from crime and drugs while using sports as a tool for social change. Through sports evangelism, we also shared the message of Christ, encouraging faith-driven lives. Spread Truth Tigers (ladies’ team) emerged victorious.
Jeff and Adams took time to train the youth referees, helping them to grow in their skills and knowledge as they serve others with integrity, fairness, and love, as Christ teaches us. We pray that the certificate will serve as both a reminder of their hard work and a stepping-stone toward greater achievements, guided by faith and grace in all they do.
Prisons Outreach
We conducted two prison outreaches. At Nairobi Remand, we hosted a basketball tournament, offering inmates not only a recreational opportunity but also a moment to hear the Gospel and be reminded that Christ loves them and that there is still hope for them even beyond the prison walls.
At Jamhuri Prison, we attended a Sunday service, ministering to inmates and prison staff through worship, prayer, and the Word. In both prisons, we reached 847 inmates and 26 gave their lives to Christ. We encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith despite their circumstances.
School Visits
Our team visited 5 schools, all for girls—four high schools and one primary school; Gathirimu Girls and Musa Gitau Girls High Schools in Kiambu, and AIC, Ilbisil and Sajiloni Girls in Kajido. Through these visits, we ministered to young girls, encouraging them in their academic journey and spiritual growth. We shared the Gospel to over 3,500 students, engaged in mentorship sessions, and provided spiritual guidance, reinforcing biblical principles on identity, purpose, and resilience.
Nutritional Support Initiative
Recognizing the pressing need for food security in Kivingoni Machakos County, a remote and food-insecure region, we provided nutritional support to over 1,500 people. This food distribution not only met immediate physical needs but also served as a demonstration of God’s love in action. Alongside the food distribution, we shared the Gospel, reminding the community that Christ is the ultimate provider.
Anti-FGM Initiative
We visited Grace Nanana, a rescue center for girls (6-14 years) who are survivors or at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). We conducted our one-day psychosocial support curriculum training, equipping 100 girls with emotional and spiritual healing tools.
Additionally, we engaged with ex-cutters—women who formerly practiced FGM but have since abandoned the practice. They are now empowered through alternative livelihoods such as beading and sewing. After ministering to them, we also distributed food as a gesture of support and encouragement.
Free Medical Camp
One of the highlights of the mission was the free medical camp that we held in Eiti area, Kajiado Central. It was officiated by the Secretary to the Cabinet, Madam Mercy Wanjau, who was received by our CEO, Reverend Hamisi Kirenga, HSC and partners.
This initiative provided much-needed healthcare services to over 2,000 people. The free services included minor surgeries (tumor removals), dental care, optical services, breast and cervical cancer screening, laboratory tests, and general consultations.
Beyond physical healing, we ministered to patients and their families, praying with them and sharing the Gospel. We also provided nutritional support, ensuring vulnerable families received food assistance.
With every incision made and every stitch placed, we see not just a wound healing but a life renewed in hope. Our hands work, but it is God who restores, guiding each step toward wholeness. We continue to pray for complete healing and strength for every soul we served.
A team of volunteer medical professionals from Hope Citadel Foundation gave their time and expertise to serve the under-served. The National Youth Council (NYC) Kenya, under the leadership of their Ag CEO Madam Gloria Wawira, also provided us with volunteer youth who were instrumental in helping during the Camp.
James 2:17 reminds us that faith without action is dead. We are grateful for the wonderful opportunity we had to serve the community, inspire hope, and spread the love of Christ.
Stay tuned for our upcoming outreaches!
