MALINDI FOOD OUTREACH!!

Partnership with the government of Kenya.

On 21st February 2022, the President of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, flagged off a consignment of emergency relief supplies to 23 arid and semi-arid counties affected by drought. The relief intervention, as reported, is set to benefit 2.3 million Kenyans in the affected counties. President Kenyatta reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to providing both short-term and long-term solutions to drought by investing in community-based resilience and drought preparedness programmes.

Through the Ministry of Public Service and Special programmes, this informed an allocation of 2,000 bags (100 Tonnes) of relief food to Spread Truth Africa for free distribution to the drought-stricken people of Malindi, Coast Region. We thank God for the honour that was afforded to us by the government of Kenya.

This was an exciting mission for us all and we went prepared and ready to serve! In Malindi, we found a vibrant community ready for us at Fellowship Baptist Church which was the central point where the food distribution was taking place in.

Spreading the Gospel of Christ is very key in all our endeavours, it is the heart of our mission! The food distribution mission in Malindi presented a great opportunity to share God's story with the people of Malindi township.

This was not just limited to the members of Fellowship Baptist, it was open for EVERYONE and we thank God that we got to reach even those that are yet to understand this Gospel for the Kingdom of God is open to everyone. Does Matthew 18:12-14 ring a bell? The same way a shepherd with 100 sheep would leave the 99 to find one lost sheep, so is the intention of our Father in heaven. That, in a major way, guides our mission to reach the world with God's story!

God's story was shared by our Programs Director, Ken Lanyo. We appreciate Reverend Elijah Wanje, senior pastor from Ridgeways Baptist who also joined us. 2650 booklets of God's Story were distributed to those present and others across all the 5 different areas within Malindi.

Food distribution.

Immediately after feeding into the spiritual needs of the people we got into distributing the food. Talking to some of the families present there, they shared how they have recently faced food insecurity having some of them sleep hungry for days. This in itself has ripple effects and a main one been a rise in crime and especially among the youth, as they try to look for alternative ways of getting food. The food benefitted families in Magharini, Gede, Adu, Kilifi town and Kakuyuni, reaching a total of 6000 people. Check out the slideshow below!

Below are some of the families that could not make it to Fellowship Baptist and were reached to.

Acts 20:35

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, it is more blessed to give than to receive."

We thank God for a successful mission that happened in Malindi and we are definitely excited for what's next.

Food for thought? On reaching EVERYONE, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Leaving no one behind, every life matters!

THE END!
